Best University for Physics
- Faculty supervisors who train teaching or learning assistants
- Faculty who want to prepare colleagues to use best practices in physics teaching
- Educators who want to see transformed instruction in action
- Educators who want to improve their own teaching
Periscope provides physics faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate learning assistants with the opportunity to "look into learning" in best practices university physics classrooms. Periscope is a set of lessons centered on short video episodes that provide the opportunity to watch and discuss authentic teaching events. Periscope is organized into short lessons that highlight significant questions in the teaching and learning of physics, such as how to help your students work well in groups, or whether it matters if students are happy in your class. This workshop will introduce you to the resource and teach you how to adapt the materials for settings ranging from weekly meetings to all-day sessions.
Please note: This workshop is not about Twitter's live streaming video service of the same name. Periscope: Looking into Learning is a collection of lessons for physics educators on best practices in teaching physics. Visit the Periscope website to learn more.
